Louisiana Diploma Tracks
Louisiana's current graduation requirements include two pathways:
TOPS University and TOPS Tech Jump Start.
Every student must choose one of these pathways by the end of their second year in high school.
Ensures that students going to a four-year college have taken a true college preparatory curriculum while in high school and have every chance to receive TOPS scholarships.
Selecting this pathway means you agree to take the courses required of the TOPS University Pathway. It also means that you understand that completing the TOPS University Pathway does not guarantee admission into a 4-year college. You must still meet the requirements set forth by the colleges.
Provides a student with career courses for industry credentials as well as a high school diploma. A student must obtain at least 1 industry-based credential to graduate. This pathway will allow graduates to continue their studies after high school through technical training or community college. Students may also choose to enter a career upon graduating with credentials.
Selecting this pathway means you agree to take the courses required of the Jump Start TOPS Tech Pathway. It also means that you understand you are not eligible to attend a 4-year Louisiana college directly after graduation. You must attend a community/technical college and then transfer after a period of time (1-2 years), if necessary.
