England

WELCOME TO ENGLAND!

England is the second country we study.  We study England because England was our "Mother Country."  The American Colonies were governed by England until the Revolutionary War.  Much of what we know and love about America is a result of England's influence on us.  We will study England's geography, landmarks, government, culture, language, and food.  I always "wrap up" a country that we study with native foods of that country.  We will participate in many fun learning activities while we learn about England.

Below I have buttons for several famous English landmarks complete with hyperlinks so you can gather more information about them.  When you are using information or photographs from these websites, be sure to write down C1 show that your information came from Wordbook Online.

This is a direct link to the information page about England's flag.

This website is full of useful information about British life and culture. We will use this site to help gather facts for our "culture poster" project.

This link has a great list comparing British to American English. If you can't find your word in one of the sub-categories, click on the link to the glossary.

You will need to login to this website in order to access the information, but it is a great website for gathering cultural information about countries.
