Winter Adventure Unit

Attention 4th and 5th graders

Our Winter Adventure Unit begins with the first snowfall, typically after the Holiday Break. However, we have gone outside in past years in December, depending on the weather. Students should be prepared for both indoor PE (sneakers) or outdoor PE (snow gear) during this unit. We will make announcements in school whenever classes will not be able to go outside due to lack of snow or temperatures below 20*.

*December/January/February*

Students should have snow gear for outdoor classes:

1. A winter coat

2. Snow pants/wind pants.

3. Hat or headband.

4. Gloves or mittens (gloves are best w/poles).

5. Sneakers in case we don’t go out.

6. Snow Boots if you want to use snowshoes.

*A change of pants and socks in case clothes get wet is a good idea*

Students will be using the school’s cross-country ski equipment (skis, boots, poles) and snowshoes. Any students who have their own cross-country skis or snowshoes are welcome to bring them to class.

*Please do not bring downhill skis or snowboards to Physical Education class*

If students are not prepared for outdoor class, they will not be allowed to go outside and/or their PE grade may be affected. Thanks to generous donations, we have winter gear available if students are not prepared (coats, pants, hats, gloves, mittens).

We are looking forward to starting the season and getting the students outside in the winter months ahead. If you have any questions or would be interested in helping, please feel free to contact us at 565-4270. Think snow*******
