Academics
Rahul Makkar received his BTech in Electronics and Communication from RTU Kota, Rajasthan, India, in 2010 and his MTech in Digital Communication from MNIT, Jaipur, India, in 2013. Currently, he is awarded his Doctoral of Philosophy degree from The LNMIIT, Jaipur. His research interests include 5G and 6G wireless communication, MIMO systems, cooperative communication, OFDM, Index modulation, Intelligent reflecting surfaces, NOMA, and fading channels. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings pertinent to his field of research, including IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE TGCN, IEEE WCNC, IEEE VTC, ANTS, ICTC, INDICON, TECNON, Transactions of Emerging Technologies, Physical Communication and many more. He has reviewed several papers for IEEE publications and conferences. He is also an active member of the IEEE, Communication Society (ComSoc) and the Vehicular Technology Society (VTS).
Achievements
Received a travel grant from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) for a paper presentation at the annual flagship IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC) 2024 in Dubai.
Received an award for the best paper titled “Opportunistic Interference Alignment for Cognitive MIMO-NOMA Downlink Networks” in the Communications & Signal Processing track, IEEE DELCON 2023, organized by Chitkara University, Punjab, in February 2023.
Received a fellowship across the country to attend the IEEE INDICON 2021 conference (online mode from December 19-21, 2021), including free online access/admission to all
tutorials, keynotes, panel discussions & parallel technical sessions in December 2021.
Joined as Research Intern at IIT Jammu and completed four weeks internship for VRITIKA event titled “Simultaneous Light Information and Power Transfer (SLIPT) for IRS-Assisted
Hybrid FSO-VLC/RF Network” supported by Accelerate Vigyan, SERB in June 2021.
Secured a Gold certificate in the NPTEL online course on “Applied Linear Algebra for Signal Processing, Data Analytics and Machine Learning” in April 2021.
Secured a Gold certificate (1 % Topper) in the NPTEL online course on “Principles of Modern CDMA/ MIMO/ OFDM Wireless Communications” in Oct 2019.
