Mr. Baca has been teaching Automotive and Welding classes here at LHS for 7 years. He is a graduate of Taos High School in Taos, NM. where he was born and raised until the age of eighteen. After graduation he decided to attend NMSU and received an Associate in Automotive which he completed in the spring of 1996. When he got married to his wife Amy, Mr. Baca moved to Silver City to work forPhelps Dodge as a truck driver/equipment operator and began his family. He has two children, Lori and Joshua. After being laid off from Phelps Dodge in September of 2003, Mr. Baca decided to follow the footsteps of his three younger sisters who became elementary school teachers. After graduating from Western New Mexico in the spring of 2007 with a Bachelors in Career and Technical Education, Mr. Baca found his first teaching job here at LHS. Mr. Baca states that working at LHS is the best choice he has made in his career. When Mr. Baca’s is not at work, he loves spending time with his wife and kids. They like to ride their four wheelers and play basketball in the park. One of Mr.Baca’s great loves is to work on his 59 Chevy pickup. The 59 Chevy was a gift his dad gave him when he was 12 years old. They worked on it together to rebuild it.
