Late Work

Work turned in after the due date will be given a maximum score of 50%. Work turned in more than a week late will receive a score of 0%. When a student turns in late work, either in-person or online, they must email the teacher with the assignment name and date so the teacher knows to check the assignment. If a student’s work is late due to an excused absence, full credit will be given so long as the work is submitted in a timely manner. The student must have a parent or guardian call in to school to report the absence, or the work will be considered late.

Absent Work

It’s important to know that it is necessary to make up work from absences that are excused in a timely manner. The work for missed days is not excused and will count as a zero until made up. Even if your student is not in school on a particular day, there are many ways to find out what the assignment entails:

  • Check the website or Google Classroom for homework information.

  • Call reliable friends to find out what was missed during class.

  • If the excused absence is planned ahead, ask the teacher ahead of time.

Quizzes

Students will have a quiz or test every Friday. Quizzes will be based off of homework and classwork. Assessing students with weekly quizzes will help me determine whether or not your child understands the material.

Tests

Tests will be given every few weeks. A chapter study guide will be given a week before the tests. Students are encouraged to review the study guide at home. It is recommended that students treat it like a practice test, review with a friend or talk about test material with a parent. Tests will be on Fridays unless it is a half day or holiday.

Projects

Students will also be assigned projects. Some work will be done in class and some will be done as homework. Projects will be presented to the class. This allows students to present their expertise and knowledge in a different format than with a standard test. Project descriptions will be provided to students via Google Classroom.
