Chapin High School Band

The Chapin High School Bands is known for being one of the most successful band programs in the state of South Carolina. The Chapin High School Bands has received the Outstanding Performance Award, and award given by the South Carolina Band Director’s Association to programs who have received superior rating in myriad of musical performances, each year for the last 30 years. In addition to an outstanding Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band, the Chapin Bands offer students the opportunity to excel in music to the fullest extent. The Chapin Band places students every year into the SC All State Band, All State Jazz Band, Regional Bands, and District/County Bands. Chapin Band students consistently receive superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble and are selected for Honor Bands around the region.

The Chapin Marching Band has had the honor of performing in many parades such as the annual Chapin Labor Day Parade, Annual Carolina Carillon Holiday Parade in downtown Columbia, the Magic Kingdom Disney World Parade, several Mardi Gras parades, the New Years Day Parade in London, and represented SC in the 2012 National Memorial Day Parade. The Chapin Marching Band also competes in the South Carolina Band Directors Association Field Competitions, competing against the best bands in the State. The Chapin Band has been a top 6 competitor at the SC State Championships almost every year for the last 30 years. They have won five State Championships and more than 15 Regional State Championships in the last 30 years.

The Chapin Symphonic Band has consistently received superior ratings at the SCBDA Concert Festival each year and was selected as a featured performer at the SC Music Educators Association Conference in 2000 and 2016. The symphonic band has also received superior ratings at the NAI festival in Atlanta, GA and Orlando, FL. In addition to concert festivals the Chapin Symphonic Band has performed both Nationally and Internationally. They have performed in Orlando, St. Lewis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Hawaii, Carnival Cruise Line, London, and Toronto.

The Chapin Jazz Band performs gigs around the area in addition to several festivals each year. Chapin's Jazz Band has consistently received superior ratings at the SCBDA Jazz Band Festival each year. They were selected as a featured performer at the SC Music Educators Association Conference in 1997. They were also a featured performer at the 1996 Olympic Games in Columbia, SC.
