Academics

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.

Topic: Describe your educational career and life goals. Explain your plan for achieving these goals. Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals.

ABC Humane Wildlife Scholarship offers a $1000 scholarship to applicants studying or planning to study the fields of science (excluding social sciences i.e. economics), engineering, mathematics, or technology. Essay required.

Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is offering a $1000 need-based scholarship award. 3.0 GPA required. Typed autobiography (minimum 2 pages) that explained why you should be awarded this scholarship is needed.

Burger King awards scholarships for those who have a 2.5 GPA and extracurricular activities.

Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program awards high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 that have demonstrated commitment to community service and have outstanding qualities in character, integrity and leadership.

Course Hero offers a $5000 scholarship to applicants with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applicants must respond to the question on the CourseHero website on a novel.

Dolphin Galleries for the Visual and Creative Arts Scholarship is for students planning or currently pursuing an arts-related major or minor. Applicants should put together a selection of their best 5 works with a 100-word description of each, that relate to the expression of culture in the modern age.

BigSun Scholarship offers young athletes whether players, coaches or officials the opportunity to compete for a $500 scholarship. Short essay required.

Foot Locker Scholar Athletes awards 20 high school seniors currently involved in high school sports, intramural sports, or community based sports with $20,000. Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Golf Fund offers a scholarship for seniors who have played golf as a member of their high school golf team and are interested in a career in professional golf. Short essay and letter of recommendation required. See your counselor for details.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award honors students in grades 5-12 for making meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service.

Ethnicity/Race/Affiliation

Alpha Kappa Alpha awards graduating seniors who identify as African-American male or female, live in Bergen County, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA scholarship money towards their 2 or 4 year institution of higher education.

American Indian College Fund awards a scholarship for U.S. citizen or Canadian eligible to attend college in the U.S. under provisions of the Jay Treaty with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.

Asian and Pacific Islander Americans Scholars (APIA) awards seniors with a minimum 2.7 GPA with scholarships ranging from one-time $2,500 awards to multi-year $20,000 awards.

Club 200 Bergen County Affiliation Scholarship will award five $5000 scholarships for those with an affiliation with Police, Fire or Emergency Medical Services.

Columbians Scholarship is for sophomores, juniors, and seniors of Italian American heritage. These scholarships range in value from $1000 to $5000 with support continuing through college.

Disabled American Veterans of NJ awards three $1500 Scholarships to descendants of members of the Disabled American Veterans including children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins.

Five Pearls Award Scholarship is for young women of color and/or belonging to a minority group. A 2.5 GPA is required as is community service and leadership. See Ms. Wong in Guidance for an application.

The Foundation 649 Scholarship is a one-time grant of $2,000 that can be applied to college tuition. The aim of our scholarship is to promote and share Asian American culture and stories from students across the country.

Horatio Alger Scholarship awards up to $25,000 to students who have financial need and have experienced great adversity. A 2.0 GPA is required.

The Korean American Scholarship Foundation (KASF) is a non-profit, volunteer-managed organization established to help meet the financial needs of Korean-American students seeking higher education. Scholarships are available for students of Korean heritage or be a direct descendant of a Korean-War Veteran who served in Korea. Students must apply for the Northeastern Regional Chapter.

National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) Scholarship offers $500 awards to 100 students. Recipients must be members of NAGE, IBPO, IBCO or IAEP or be a relative of a member.

National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section will award several $1,000 scholarships to Jewish women selected from applicants who are seniors in Bergen County public high schools.

New Jersey State Elks Special Children's Committee offers two four year $2500 per year scholarships to physically and/or mentally challenged students going on to higher education. Please see Ms. Wong for the application.

Ron Brown Scholar Program awards $10,000 annually for four years to Black/African American and current high school seniors at the time of their application. Applicants should demonstrate academic achievement, exhibit leadership ability, participate in community service activities and have a demonstrated financial need.

ACS Scholars Program awards up to $5000 to any senior who intends to major in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, or another chemistry-related science AND plan to pursue a career in a chemistry-related science as well.

AES Engineering Scholarship is intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. Students must submit an essay of between 500 and 1000 words in answer to the following question: When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey?

NJ Mosquito Control Association is offering a $500 scholarship to high school seniors who have an interest in engaging in studies that may benefit the mosquito control community. B. Davis Scholarship is available to juniors and seniors. In less than 1000 words, Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.

Comedy Defensive Driving is asking high school students to design an advertisement that will educate the public about the dangers of distracted driving. The award amount is $1000.

Courage to Grow Scholarship offers $500 to juniors and seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA or better. You must explain in 250 words or less why you believe that you should be awarded this scholarship.

Elks National Foundation Scholarship awards 500 four-year scholarships ranging from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year to the high school seniors.

George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest invites all high school students (9th through 12th grades) interested in the American Revolution to submit an original 800- to 1,200-word essay based on an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution.

GoSkills offers this scholarship twice a year to any female high-school or college student, who wants to start her own online business.

The Thomas J. Henry Leadership Scholarship Program will award $1,000 to a student attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university. Applicants must share your leadership role experience, whether it was for your school’s sport team, club, outside organization, church, or volunteer group and have at least a 2.8 GPA.

Jackie Robinson Foundation aims to provide scholarships to under-served high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice. Students need a minimum SAT 1000 or an ACT score of 21.

Joseph Rumbaugh Historical Scholarship invites all high school students (9th through 12th grades) interested in the American Revolution to participate in the Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest. Speech and essay required.

Life Lessons requires students to submit either a 500-word essay or a 3-minutes video discussing how the death of your parent or guardian affected your life financially and emotionally.

Lift Parts Express Scholarship offers $500 for a student with a 3.0 GPA or above. Write an essay that outlines how much you expect to spend to finish your schooling, how you intend to pay for your schooling, and what you expect your job to be once you are finished your schooling. Madison Holleran Mental Health Action Scholarship To be considered for the scholarship, students must submit an application and a 1,500-word essay about an innovative mental health support program that could be implemented in K-12 schools.

NJ Sharing Network Foundation offers multiple scholarships for students who are donor awareness advocates or have been personally affected by or is a family member of someone personally affected by organ and tissue donation.

PB&J Scholarship Fund is looking for students who have experienced challenges in their life and who have the drive to succeed. This scholarship is open to all college-bound seniors attending an accredited 2-year or 4-year college.

John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum offers a Profile in Courage Essay Contest. The topic is “Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or international level.”
