Peer Leadership Program

2022-2023 Peer Leadership Program

Self Nominations will open on May 24th. Look out for an email in your @leoniaschools.org account.

Leonia High School is once again sponsoring the Peer Leadership Program. The goal of the program is to help incoming freshmen make a successful transition into high school. In order to help freshmen achieve this goal, we utilize seniors who have indicated a desire to act as role models for the student body and to facilitate outreach sessions on topics that help incoming freshman explore their identities and make positive decisions.

We hope that you will consider being a Peer Leader. As a Peer Leader you will have the opportunity to

  • Develop leadership and group facilitation skills during our training sessions

  • Help conduct monthly outreach sessions for freshmen on a variety of relevant topics

  • Provide ongoing support to students entering our high school

Participation in Peer Leadership requires a commitment of time, dedication and responsibility. Peer Leaders serve as role models and pledge to be alcohol and substance free. Peer Leaders will be expected to attend a training session for 9th grade orientation during the last week of school and be available to attend the 9th grade orientation on September 2nd from 8am-2pm. In addition, you will be required to attend training sessions during your lunch period once or twice a month from September through January. We ask you to apply only if you are interested in helping and supporting others and fulfilling Peer Leader role expectations for the 2022-2023 school year.

We encourage you to discuss the responsibilities of being a Peer Leader with your parents and to contact us with any questions. If you are interested, please complete the online application and email the permission slip to lhsguidance@leoniaschools.org no later than Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at NOON.

No late applications will be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact your school counselor.
