BARD Basics
All LPS students qualify for and can have a subscription to BARD through the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled at the Library of Congress (NLS).
The qualifying print disability is Specific Learning Disability (SLD) in Reading or Dyslexia.
BARD is the free App that students will need in order to download and listen to the audiobooks.
There are over 200,000 titles and counting, including magazines, nonfiction and foreign language content.
There’s no limit on the number of copies for each title and there’s no limit on the length of borrow time.
This following video is an example of a BARD audiobook that has different voices for each character.
Book Title/Author: “Harbor Me” by Jacqueline Woodson
**Consider the authenticity of providing these voices, with accents, to your students**
