Principles of Agriculture

Welcome to Principles of Agriculture! This beginning agriculture science class allows students to explore various parts of the agriculture industry and what it truly takes for farmers to feed the world. First year agriculture students, a.k.a. Greenhands, learn the history of the FFA, Basic Parliamentary Procedure, History of Agriculture, Livestock Identification, and Soil Science. The goal of the class is to show students what is available to study and explore. We will use hands on teaching methods throughout each unit of the class. Students will also learn about the different pathways of study available to them in Agriculture Science.

To be prepared for careers in agriculture, food, and natural resources, students must attain academic skills and knowledge in agriculture.

This course allows students to develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, personal development, globalization, industry standards, details, practices, and expectations. To prepare for success, students need to have opportunities to learn, reinforce, experience, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills in a variety of settings.

All assignments and projects can be accessed through the class Google Classroom. Students will be given instructions on how to access the digital classroom as well as how to turn in assignments.

Please sign up for Principles of Agriculture classroom reminders with my Remind service. Students and parents are both invited to join.
