Livestock Production

Welcome to Livestock Production. In this course students will learn about the various breeds of livestock, health concerns, nutrition, breeding systems, and management of livestock. We will compare and contrast livestock to determine the best selection criteria for the future of the breeds. Students will have hands on experiences with livestock. Please note you do not need to raise a livestock animal to be a part of this class.

To be prepared for careers in the field of animal science, students need to attain academic skills and knowledge, acquire knowledge and skills related to animal systems and the workplace, and develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. To prepare for success, students need opportunities to learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills in a variety of settings.

Animal species to be addressed in this course may include, but are not limited to, beef cattle, dairy cattle, swine, sheep, goats, and poultry.

All assignments and projects can be accessed through the class Google Classroom. Students will be given instructions on how to access the digital classroom as well as how to turn in assignments.
