Mezzo-soprano, Cassidy Wallace, graduated from Texas State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a minor in Opera. While at Texas State, she had opportunities to perform as Cenrdrillon in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and La Curandera in Rodriguez’s La Curandera with Texas State Opera Theatre. Wallace sang with the Texas State Chorale from 2017-2020 under the direction of Dr. Joey Martin, during which she performed at the SWACDA and TMEA conferences. She was also a soloist for Texas State Chorale’s performances of Prayers of Kierkegaard, Considering Matthew Shepherd, and Serenade to Music.
This past April, Wallace had the opportunity to return to her alma mater as the featured Mezzo soloist in Texas State Chorale’s performance of Fernhill. This past year, she has sung in the chorus of Austin Opera for their production of Fidelio and in the San Antonio Chamber Choir’s concert, Threshold. Upcoming projects of hers include being a featured Soprano soloist on Seguin ISD’s performance of Mass of the Children by John Rutter, singing again with San Antonio Chamber Choir on their concerts Our Deep, Deep Earth and El Mesias, and making her chorus debut with Opera San Antonio on their productions of Pagliacci and Romeo et Juliet.
Wallace has been teaching private voice for the past 2 years to high school and middle school age students. She regularly teaches at Seguin High School, San Marcos High School, and through RMT music studio. Students of her’s have gone on to advance past the Region level in the TMEA All-State process and have received Superior ratings at both the regional and state levels of Solo and Ensemble UIL. They’ve shown consistent growth, not only in vocal ability, but in confidence and leadership within their choir programs. Wallace is excited to be able to offer lessons to Leander Middle School choir students and can’t wait to work with them!
