Anissa Garcia, Head Director
Anissa Garcia was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and has been in choir since she was in middle school. Ms. Garcia attended Brandeis High School in San Antonio where she was apart the choir and theatre program.
Ms. Garcia received her bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education from Texas Tech University in December 2018. While at Texas Tech, she was apart of the University Choir and Women's Chorale. She also performed in several operas through the Texas Tech Department of Opera Theatre and musicals through the Texas Tech Department of Theatre and Dance.
In January of 2019, Ms. Garcia attended the ACDA National Choral Convention with the HMS Varsity Treble choir and has received multiple UIL Concert and Sight Reading Sweepstakes ratings. Ms. Garcia currently serves as the Middle School Region Vocal Chair Elect for Region 32.
Ms. Garcia was previously the assistant choir director at Henry Middle School and is so excited to continue her journey as head director at Canyon Ridge Middle School. This will be Ms. Garcia's 7th year teaching middle school choir!
One fun fact about Ms. Garcia is that she danced for 15 years before going to college. She studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Hip Hop from the age of 3-18.
In her spare time, Ms. Garcia enjoys singing karaoke with friends, going to the movies, playing guitar hero, and spending quality time with her cat's, Alaska and Ethel!
Sara Trogdon, Associate Director
Sara Trogdon is a native from Houston, TX. Ms.Trogdon attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston where she actively performed with the choir.
Ms.Trogdon attended Texas State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Choral Music Education in May of 2020. She performed with the Texas State Chorale at the Texas Music Educators Association and American Choral Director's Association Conventions in the Spring of 2018. Throughout her years at Texas State she performed with the Texas State Opera program and was an active member of the Professional Music Organization, Mu Phi Epsilon.
Ms.Trogdon was previously the Assistant Choir Director at Marble Falls Middle School from 2020-2022. She also spent time as the Children's Choir Coordinator for the First Baptist Church in San Marcos, TX and she was the Prelude Director for the Hill Country Youth Chorus. She is so excited to be starting her 6th year teaching middle school choir!
One fun fact about Ms.Trogdon is that she has been Skydiving two times! She loves hiking and cooking and spending time with her pup Sam!
