4th & 5th Grade Puberty Curriculum

2025-26 Teaching Your Child About Puberty

4th & 5th Grade Parents/Guardians:

Leander ISD 4th and 5th grade students are about to study an important lesson on the early stages of puberty which some students may be beginning to experience. Parents must opt-in for their child to watch the video using the provided form below (Please call the front office or email me if you need a paper copy.)

At Block House Creek Elementary, students will watch the videos listed below during specials on Monday, March 9th. While watching the videos, students will be separated by grade level and gender. Opt-in students will go to a designated location during their video time, remaining students will go to the library during this time.
5th Boys 7:40-8:00 5th Girls 8:00-8:30
4th Boys 9:30-9:50 4th Girls 9:50-10:20

• Fifth Grade Girls “Growing Up! For Girls”

• Fifth Grade Boys-“Growing Up! For Boys”

The videos review the following topics:

• Reproductive systems

• Health and nutrition

• Hygiene and grooming

• Self esteem

• Physical changes

• Emotional changes

If you would like your 4th/5th Grade Student to participate in the Puberty Lesson, please fill out this OPT-IN form by March 5th:
