SENIORS 2014...One more test…all students applying to a Texas Public Institution must also take the TSI Assessment. However, the good news is…you may be exempt from this test based on your TAKS, SAT, or ACT scores!!! Check the poster in the senior hallway to see what scores qualify for exemption. If you need the TSI Assessment, call Angelina College at 936-633-5292 to make an appointment, TVCC at 903-675-6386, or call CollegeBoard at 1-866-607-5223 to find other locations.
For the Seniors of 2015 and later, the cut point for College Readiness will be determined by the state in January for the English II and Algebra I EOCs.
VERY IMPORTANT! If you will be a Senior for the 2013-2014 school year and are planning to take Dual Credit English or U.S. History, Senate Bill 1107 requires you to have the Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination before enrollment. Please submit an official immunization record to Mrs. Davenport. Please advise Mrs. Brenner when this is done, so I can fax a copy to Angelina College to complete your enrollment. Please take care of this as soon as possible before the classes fill up. There is limited seating.
Plans for College Campus Visits are underway! The Seniors will tour Texas A&M in the fall, and the Freshmen are scheduled to visit Angelina College in October. The Juniors will travel to Sam Houston State University on October 3rd. We have many more visits planned! Seniors also will visit Stephen F. Austin and attend TVCC College Day to meet with college reps from all over the country. Sophomores - TVCC Career Day to start planning which courses to take in order to further their career aspirations!
If you plan to visit a college on your own during a school day, there are College Visitation forms outside the office that must be filled out prior to your absence. Come by the office to pick up one and have the forms explained to you, so that your absence will be excused. Seniors and Juniors are allowed two excused college visitation days.
Also outside the office are Transcript Request forms. These must be completed before a transcript will be released.
Susan Jones, Director of Financial Aid at Angelina College, always makes the Latexo High School's FAFSA Night an overwhelming success! Seniors and their parents fill the application with Susan's expert assistance, and everyone leaves satisfied! We are planning a Parent FAFSA Workshop in late February or early March 2014. Stay tuned for more information and make sure your 2013 income taxes have been completed and returned. We can hold an additional FAFSA Night if there are enough requests.
Community Service is essential for many scholarships! If you have a 95 GPA or better, please see Mrs. Lumbreraz about becoming a member of BETA CLUB. The Beta Club offers many opportunities to support your community!
