Juniors and Seniors, now is the time to take your SAT or ACT! If you have not done so, register ASAP for the SAT or ACT so that you can be accepted to the college of your choice. Many colleges, like UT or A&M, award scholarships by December 1st to accepted Freshmen. You don’t want to miss out! The District is paying for each Senior and Junior to take either SAT or the ACT. Drop by the Senior Table for test prep materials, testing dates, and online registration information. Also, if you receive free or reduced lunch, you qualify for a fee waiver for these exams. Come see me, and I will help you get started.
SAT – www.collegeboard.com. Register online for the SAT Reasoning Test, which includes Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. The SAT was recently redesigned with a heavier emphasis on Algebra II, and less emphasis on Geometry.
ACT – www.act.org. The new readiness scores and indicators will give students a more detailed insight to better plan for future success. They include scores in: STEM, College Readiness, ELA, and a Text Complexity Indicator.
The Writing portion of the SAT and ACT is now optional. You are encouraged to take the Writing portion so that you will have it "in the bank" if you decide to go to a college which requires the Writing.
If you are a student athlete planning to attend college, you must have your scores sent directly to the NCAA. To do that, enter code 9999 as a choice when asked where you would like your scores sent.
