3.Mythology

A costume contest about mythology was held on May 1st,2004 at KSVS. The students, who attended the A-jet online English curriculum –“Age of Greek Mythology” (http://ajet.ykn.org.tw),wore the costumes of Greek gods and goddesses like Cupid, Venus. Some of them even play the roles of Chinese traditional gods. Then, they introduced their gods in English and performed the plays wonderfully. Owing to their vivid costumes and creative performance, the audience really enjoyed a wonderful English show.

 The purpose of the contest is to motivate student to cooperate, to think creatively, and to learn to learn mythology by acting it out. Those students were encouraged to form a group of 3 to 6 persons. There were 19 groups competing in the contest. Each group had to choose a god from Chinese or Western Mythology to play. After deciding the character, group members worked together to use various kinds of materials to make the costumes, and to design a short play to show their characters. In the contest, all the performers acted and introduced the gods in English.

The students at KSVS have multiple abilities and skills. A variety of chances have been provided to develop their multiple intelligences. Thanks to the convenient transportation and the 24-hour internet, the word has become a globall village, and English has been the most common language. There, KSVS work hard to promote English Teaching. For example, we increase the learning hours of English Classes, provide a lot of English selective courses, broadcast the English teaching program in the morning, conduct English make-up teaching, hold English speech contests and so on. KSVS also create an English-friendly environment on campus and construct an English version of school website (http://www.ksvs.kh.edu.tw) so that student can be motivated to earn English.
