Humour

We are getting serious about being funny. 

In this course, the students will be introduced to three theories about humour - the superiority theory, the incongruity theory, and the relief theory. Furthermore, we are going to look at various humourous devices such as satire, irony, stereotypes, paradox, and the absurd. All these theories of humour will be applied to different literary works and films. Furthermore, it is an option to work with cartoons, investigate their means and effect, and produce your own cartoons.
