Fantasy

In this course, we are going to look at the traits that make up the worlds of fantasy. We will investigate what constitute the genre, its components - settings, characters, plots and magical elements. We are going to read excerpts from various novels that represent different eras and corners of the genre. We are also going to watch a film and scrutinise how this medium transforms and manifests the universe of the novel into a visual world for us to experience.
