Behavior Management Plan

Let's ROAR in Second Grade!!!

Classroom Expectations/Rules

To help ensure a safe, structured, positive learning environment, I have based our classroom expectations/rules on the school-wide Sealston Promise (R.O.A.R):

I will be respectful.

I will be organized.

I will be achieving.

I will be responsible.

What does it mean to be Respectful?

* I listen to others.

* I follow directions.

* I follow classroom and school rules.

* I am polite and use my manners.

* I am kind and helpful.

Remember: Treat others the way you want to be treated.

What does it mean to be Organized?

* I keep my desk area neat.

* I keep my crayon box organized.

* I have the correct materials on my desk, and I am ready to learn.

What does it mean to be Achieving?

* I try my best all the time.

* I never give up.

* I stay on task and complete my work.

What does it mean to be Responsible?

* I follow classroom and school rules.

* I complete my work every day.

* I control my voice level and actions.

* I clean up my work area and put all materials back where they go.

Students will earn orange "PAW"sitive tickets when exhibiting the above behaviors/expectations. They will be able to save their tickets and earn different rewards (prize, bring a stuffed animal to school, read to a younger class, show-n-tell, eat lunch with the principal, etc.). The rewards will cost different amounts (10 tickets, 20 tickets, etc.). Students will be able to "cash in" their tickets every two weeks.

Sparkles

Along with orange tickets, I also use sparkles (sparkling pom-poms) to encourage positive behavior and promote productive work habits.

Each student has a container with 10 sparkles. He/She will have the opportunity to earn more sparkles for exceptional behavior. This can include following directions the first time they are given, working cooperatively with others, being a good friend, sharing, answering questions during lessons, etc. This list can go on and on, because I love to recognize all kinds of positive behavior.

Students who lose sparkles for classroom infractions will have ample opportunities to earn them back.

The goal is for students to try to keep 7 or more sparkles during the week. If a child has 7 sparkles on Friday, he/she will earn a prize or coupon from the prize box. (If a child has 14 sparkles, he/she will get 2 prizes and/or coupons, and so on.)

ROARing Wildcat of the Week

Along with orange tickets and sparkles, I have also included a very special award.........Roaring Wildcat of the Week.Every two weeks, I will pick a child to be the “Roaring Wildcat of the Week.” To earn this award, a student must try his/her best, display positive classroom behavior, and be a good friend and citizen.When a child is chosen for this award, I will hang up paper paw prints on our classroom bulletin board with some information about that student. He/She will also be my personal assistant, earn special privileges, and receive prizes/rewards.
