Our History

Burton B. Fox Library- An Innovative Learning Center for 21st Century Learners

In many ways, the history of B. B. Fox Library is linked to the history of the school it services, Colegio Karl C. Parrish.

School Origins

KCP started off in 1938, offering its services to elementary school students in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia. Its founder, Karl Calvin Parrish, was a Iowan engineer who had emigrated to Barranquilla. The purpose of this bilingual school was to prepare American students living abroad the education needed in order to continue their middle and higher education in the United States.

Growth and Progress

In later years, the school expanded rapidly, coming to offer education for older students. New classrooms were built, and the school eventually moved to a larger property, donated by the Parrish and Company construction firm. It was here that the first school library was established.
