Mrs.Adrians began working with the library staff in 2023 as Elementary Librarian. She is a writer with a degree in journalism and mass media, graduated from the Universidad del Norte. Her passion and discipline for writing, reading, and research qualified her to be a teacher of communication skills in higher education. In 2012, she took on the coordination of the Writing Center (CREE) at the Universidad del Norte. In 2015, she taught critical reading and academic writing at CUC and Universidad del Norte. In 2019 she conducted writing and reading workshops for teachers from the Escuelas Distritales de la Secretaria de Cultura. She has also been a co-researcher on communication for social change projects between the Universidad del Norte and partners such as UNICEF (2020), WHO (2020-2023), and Educapaz (2021-2022). She participated as a writer and poet in editions of LabraPalabra (cultural magazine of Barranquilla, 2010) and Bacanal (2010-2012), as well as in the Poemario Festival (2010) and the La Sombra del Matarratón Festival. She has academic publications as a collaborator and co-writer: "The Uses of Audiovisual Media in the Colombian Caribbean" (Iriarte, 2010) ; "Overview of Writing Centers and Programs in Latin America," (Molina, 2015); and "Tirala Plena: Findings from a formative research to inform the initiative" (Vega, 2023).
Ms.Martinez has been a member of Burton B. Fox Library since 2011 . She is currently working towards her Bachelor's degree in Spanish from the Corporación Universitaria Reformada, and is certified in Document Management by the SENA educational center. Her work in cataloging our vast physical collection of books, articles, and periodicals is invaluable to the day-to-day operation of our library. Ms. Martinez is also in charge of removing outdated or otherwise unwanted materials from the library. She enjoys working with our younger students and is an avid reader of traditional Colombian literature.
Ms. Tristancho began working with library staff in 2018 as a secondary librarian, focusing on media literacy campaigns with students and teachers. She is also in charge of several clubs, including the Makerspace Club, El Milenio Club (the school newspaper), and the Book Club. In 2022, he had the opportunity to take over the Primary Library. She hosted special library events such as the Iguana Tales Contest and designed library lessons for STEM students in grades 1-5. Mrs. Tristancho obtained her degree in Design from the prestigious Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla. She is a children's literature enthusiast and passionate about art and design, believing in its potential to contribute to educational excellence.
Her role at the Burton B. Fox Library allows her to channel her artistic talents into the field of library services. In 2024, she took over as Interim Head of the Library, working with dedication and applying common sense to each project. In addition, she adapts and promotes academic programs that encourage reading and strengthen reading skills in children from 4 to 18 years old. Collaborates closely with teachers to integrate innovative teaching by offering workshops on the effective use of library resources. Additionally, she helps design creative projects that encourage students to think critically and explore topics in depth.
