Since you are interested, here are a few facts about myself. I was born in 1978 on the island of Lesbos, which lies in the North East Aegean Sea, in Greece. I grew up in Mytilene, the capital of Lesbos, and went to school there. I graduated from the Second High School of Mytilene in 1996. I studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), from which I graduated in 2001 (5-year program.) Then, after serving in the Hellenic Army (mandatory service) as a Sergeant in the mortar platoon, for 14 months, I moved to Providence, the capital of Rhode Island in the U.S.A., and joined the Division of Engineering at Brown University, where I received a Sc.M. (2005) and a Ph.D. (2009) degree from. Between 2009 and 2014 I was a postdoc and a researcher at LPN-CNRS (Laboratory for Photonics and Nanostructures at the National Center for Scientific Research) in France, developing semiconductor nanostructures for electrical transport, thermodynamic measurements, and nanoelectromechanical and metrology applications (III-V and graphene). Then I worked for a year in a joint position between LPN and the Observatory of Paris, developing THz circuits based on Schottky diodes for space applications. Between 2013-2016 I was also a part-time lecturer at Diderot University (Paris 7). In 2016 I joined the Paul Scherrer Institut (Laboratory for Micro- and Nanotechnology) in Switzerland as a project coordinator. Since 2021 I am a tenure-track scientist in the same institute working on advanced lithography techniques, including e-beam and EUV interference lithography. I play the guitar and a little bit of trumpet. Between the years 1993-1996 I was a member of the youth band of the City of Mytilene, which gave concerts all over the island of Lesbos, the islands of Chios, Kos and Mykonos and the Canary Islands! I love to sing and dance salsa and tango! I am a big fan of skiing and I like to bike and hike. I also fancy traveling (especially road trips.) I'm a great fan of the National Parks of the USA. I also like to paint on different kinds of materials, ceramics, wood, stone etc. I have taught myself the art of Byzantine Iconogaphy, which includes preparing the wood, gold-gilding it, and painting with egg-tempera (dry pigments dissolved in an egg-based solution). I also enjoy drawing with charcoal. More recently I have entered the world of Arduino microcontrollers and I am in the proccess of building a quadcopter drone from scratch!
