This year, there will be many problem sets and solutions created to help participants practice for upcoming competitions. Each problem set will be rated on a difficulty scale from 1-10, or will be based on a certain topic, and will have a detailed solution document. The following scale might help you decide which problem sets to attempt:
Difficulty levels:
(the following is recommended for beginners and advanced beginners training for AMC's)
1-2: AMC 8, Mathcounts chapter/state
3-4: AMC 10/12, VHSL, Easy ARML
(the following is recommended for intermediate and advanced level participants training for more difficult competitions such as the AIME)
5-6: AMC 12, AHSME, AIME #1-4, medium level ARML
7-8: AIME #5-10, HMMT Nov., PUMaC, Hard ARML
9-10: AIME #10-15, HMMT Feb., USA(J)MO #1, IMO shortlist 1/3.
Most problem sets will be in the 1-6 difficulty range, and will either be written by upperclassmen or pulled from an exam. At least two problem sets will be released every week, with each set containing 10 problems(5 warm-up and 5 challenge). A mock AMC 10/12 and AIME will be created by Brian Li when the competition dates approach. Please email him if you would like to help.
The weekly problem sets will be handed out during the weekly meetings and the set and solutions will be posted below:
