Why Making is Important in an Elementary School?

It is amazing how a vacation gives you the time to recharge and reflect. During my vacation, I had the time to reflect on our MakerDay. And I have to say it was amazing to look out into the Cafe and see all the hard work by both students and staff. We had over 200 students and parents attend our MakerNight. "The term "Making or Maker" generally refers to using a wide variety of hands-on activities (such as building, computer programming, and sewing) to support academic learning and the development of a mindset that values playfulness and experimentation, growth and iteration, and collaboration and community." (Education Week). There are so many reasons to incorporate making into schools. The number one reason is students learning increase as the engagement does.

A big thank you to all who have donated time, money or materials to our MakerStudio.
