Mentors will be selected by principals or program coordinators with the following considerations:
The mentor should be a positive model for instruction, collegiality, problem solving and communication
Individual needs of the beginning teacher/specialist are considered in the match.
The mentor should hold a rating of proficient or higher in their evaluative rating
The mentor is willing to invest time to work with his/her mentee throughout the school year. The mentor is willing to participate in the AIM Mentoring Matters online training module, maintain a 30 communication log with his/her mentee and use provided the Mentoring in Action book and monthly tools for guided and reflective conversations throughout the year. Time during the contractual school day is allowed.
Minimum of three years teaching experience in the role that you are mentoring
3 credits or 500.00 stipend (only if eligible- see below)
*Mentors at Step 14 M+75 or Step 14 Doctorate track shall have the option of a $500.00 dollar stipend ( + annual contractual increase) for mentoring. Pre-approval required. Will apply during course.
