A NUMBER of French people are planning to walk from Weymouth to Crewkerne in June.

It is all part of a twinning visit from Igny and Bures-sur-Yvette to Crewkerne.

The French contingent will arrive on Thursday, June 2nd and about 10 of them are planning to arrive on foot.

Members of Crewkerne and District Twinning Association are preparing for the visit and would like to hear from people interested in joining the walk or hosting some of the visitors.

Cheryl Newman, of Crewkerne and District Twinning Association, said: “If anyone would like to join them for the walk — which is still at planning stage — they would be very pleased to meet up with them on route.

“This year sees the 35th anniversary of Crewkerne’s twinnning, so is special as we have always managed to meet up with them at least once every year so far.”

Crewkerne twinners will be out and about at various events over the coming weeks and months to generate interest and attract new members.

Cheryl said: “We will be attending the table top sale at Henhayes Centre on Saturday, February 19th and we will be hosting a coffee and croissant morning at Crewkerne Museum on Saturday, March 19th.”

The association will also be present at a fair for organisations and groups in Victoria Hall in March.

Potential members are welcome to call 01460 75025 for details.
