Hints for a better project
- Get familiar with the research process, watch the Research Companion videos, and play around with ProQuest long before you need to start your project
- Whether online or on paper, assemble your material into a logically organized document or very few documents; don't give your readers a hodgepodge of documents to juggle
- Have a strategy to turn in your project to your subject-matter teacher and your English teacher simultaneously
- If your project includes a business letter, be sure you know how to write a good business letter; check online resources such as the Purdue OWL
- If your project includes a web site, don't get carried away with fancy graphics at the expense of organizing a cogent site with a thoughtful theme and a unified message; an effective web site is more than a mere collection of facts and figures
- Be sure you understand and use MLA citations -- both in-text and in your Works Cited section; mere URLs are insufficient citations; see the many links on the MLA Style and Research pages, linked from the left side of this page
