I'm finding it rewarding and interesting to read your reflections. Among the common comments are that PVA students would like more in-depth previews of homework in class before being assigned to do the work, and some students don't like going over the homework in class after it's completed. I've set aside time at the end of every PVA class to discuss upcoming homework. My thinking about going over completed homework in class is that doing so makes it more likely you'll remember key facts and skills covered in the work. A thoughtful review can only help. However, to the extent students review and address comments I make on homework -- either hard copy or Google Doc versions -- we can probably cut back a bit on class time spent reviewing homework. A number of students have made diligent efforts to resolve large numbers of Google Doc comments in response to the reflection assignment. I'll be pondering ways to make the process of resolving comments more useful and more common. Feel free to comment on this post with your ideas.
