Andy Warhol Multicolor Images

Students were asked to change the colors or saturation levels of a picture using a photo editing program. They then had to make it into an Andy Warhol image.

Pointillism

Students were asked to make a dotted image of a fruit or of themselves. Then remove the picture of the fruit to have just their image.

Announcing Virtual MS Arts Audition Boot Camp 2021!

Program Description: Middle School Arts Audition Boot Camp is a free, two-week arts program for New York City Department of Education public school students entering grade 8 in September 2021.This intensive program to be held virtually, is administered by OASP in collaboration with a group of leading cultural organizations:Lincoln Center, Weill Institute of Music at Carnegie Hall, Harlem School for the Arts, NY Philharmonic, Studio in a School, and Julliard.The goal of the program is to provide equity and access in preparation to screened NYCDOE arts high schools and arts programs for 300 currently Title I middle school students interested in auditioning for a screened high school arts program.

Dates:August 2 – August 13, 2021

Note: There will be weekend follow-up sessions in the Fall 2021 prior to High School Auditioning and Screening season, dates to be announced. (Subject to Chancellor regulations on school reopening.)

Schedule: Middle School Arts Audition Boot camp meets daily, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Admitted students must commit to full participation for the entire program.Attendance is mandatory and unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the program.Students will not be excused for vacations, participation in other art programs, or to participate in any other school-based activity.

Please note: Students may be asked to participate in or attend an online, virtual event/performance that may extend beyond camp hours. Parents/Guardians will be notified of these events in advance.

Location: Virtual Platform (Students will be required to keep their cameras on during synchronous camp time.Please note this when applying to the program.).

Admission: Admission to the MS Arts Audition Virtual Boot Camp 2021 is by online application (only)andan online audition submission is also required.

Eligibility: To apply for MS Arts Audition Virtual Boot Camp 2021, students must meet the following criteria:

1. 1. 1. 1. Students must be entering 8^thgrade in the Fall of 2021.

         2. Priority is given to students currently attending a NYCDOE public school.

         3. Students must be Title I eligible or attending a Title I school.

         4. Students cannot attend MS Arts Audition Boot Camp 2021 if they have been accepted and plan to attend Summer Arts Institute (SAI) 2021.(Students can apply to both programs but can only attend one program within the same year.)

Auditions:Auditions will be virtual this year. All eligible students who submit a complete application by the deadline will beinvited to audition.Audition information will be e-mailed to studentsfollowing their application submission.Students must record and upload their audition or digital portfolio by 11:59 p.m. June 11, 2021.Some studios may request afollow up online interview or exercise to further demonstrate skill. Students will be notified if this step is necessary. *The online audition submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. So, please feel free to submit your video performance or digital portfolio whenever you feel you are ready, but no later than June 11, 2021
