Drone Safety and Equipment Use
Drone Use-Safety
Read through the safety rules. Mrs. Wilson will be asking your about these before you can fly.
Do not fly drones near another person. Everyone must be outside of the drone arena before flying.
Keep drones away from the top of drone cage. If it gets stuck in the netting, be careful when removing it.
Approach drones carefully to avoid stepping on the drone. (No running to pick up drone.)
Be sure all propellers have stopped spinning before picking up drone. (The propellers can cut you and get caught up in hair or clothing.)
Person with controller should take fingers off controls while another person is picking up or working on the drone.
No horseplay with drones or you will lose the privilege of using them.
Drone may only be flown in the drone cage. Do not fly in STEM lab or hallways.
Use only your assigned drone, controller and batteries.
Drone Equipment Use
The white propellers and the lights are the front of your drone.
The lights will blink green while trying to connect to the iPad or controller. They will turn a steady green when connected.
Batteries last approx. 10 minutes each. You have 3 batteries per class period that you are flying. Your drone lights will start to flash red when the battery is low. You may also have trouble connecting the drone to the controller/iPad.
Put drained batteries on the charger before you leave class or leave them with Mrs. Wilson to get charged for the next day.
The prop guards and propellers can come off if you crash. Simply put them back on. Do not replace unless you check with Mrs. Wilson about damage. I have some extra prop guards and propellers.
Don't push the propellers down too close to the motor. Leave a millimeter of space so the propeller can turn.
If your drone is not flying correctly, you may need to check the propellers to make sure they are not pushed down flat against the motor.
Try to avoid crashing into objects. If you permanently damage your drone then you will not get a replacement.
If you get into trouble controlling your drone while flying it, LAND IT! Don't keep crashing into objects to try to get out of a situation. LAND IT and reset!
