Commitment to AP

This course will be, at various times, demanding, frustrating, rewarding, and more. It is natural to feel overwhelmed. However, be aware that you are committing to a year-long endeavor and that students tend to realize the most significant gains during the second semester. Many, many former students have returned to say how much AP English has helped them in college and how much more prepared they are than many of their classmates. While they were once disgruntled or exhausted, they are proud and thankful to have persevered.

For these reasons and others associated with the year-long scheduling that CHS employs, I will not sign a form allowing you to drop the course at the semester break. If, by chance, a student does drop a course, the AP designation will be removed from the transcript and the grade earned will no longer be weighted.
