Jeffco Professional Learning Community Site Visits
“The work of transforming schools means all or most schools, and this means it is a system change. For system change to occur on a larger scale, we need schools learning from each other and districts learning from each other. We call this “lateral capacity building” and see it as crucial for system reform. Put another way, individual, isolated PLC schools are verboten in any deep scheme of reform, and the PLC as an innovation can easily slip into this trap.” Michael Fullen
As schools work towards taking more ownership and sustaining their own Professional Learning Community implementation, they will begin to build capacity across the system. This means they are building leadership in their own staff, continuing to learn and grow in their own implementation, as well as sharing their knowledge with other schools. Ultimately, over time, building a network of multiple site visit schools will support the sustainability of PLC implementation across the district.
