Together, as the unified family of the Jenkins County Middle / High School War Eagle Band, we dedicate ourselves to build upon a firm foundation of excellence in music and motion through integrity, discipline, and trust. By consistently giving our personal and collective best, we will continually raise the standards of each performer, maximizing the total potential of the group and achieve a sense of success regardless of competitive result.
This is our primary performing group. Performances include: Veteran's Day Program, Christmas Concert, Black History Program, Veteran's Day Program with JROTC, Pre Evaluation performance, Georgia Music Educator's Association Large Group Performance Evaluation, Bethany Nursing Home performance, Solo & Ensemble, Spring Concert, the Baccalaureate Program, and random birthday requests for any staff member over 70 years old. Members consist of students in grades 8-12.
The concert band is no long available due to middle school recruiting restrictions.
The Concert Band consisted of students in 7th grade students who passed through 6th grade beginning band training. Performances included: Home game stand tunes with the high school Marching Band, Christmas Concert, Georgia Music Educator's Association Large Group Performance Evaluation, Solo & Ensemble, Bethany Nursing Home performance, and a Spring Concert.
The Beginning Band consists of students in 7th grade. The primary function of the beginning band is to teach students how to play an instrument and read music. Performances include the Christmas Concert, Spring Concert, and recruitment demonstration. Schedules may allow for a Large Group Performance Evaluation and Solo & Ensemble.
This is our Most Important marching band and Most Exposed ensemble in the county!!! Membership is attained by audition. Performances include but not limited to: Home and Away football games, a possible marching festival, Home Coming Parade, Fair On The Square Parade and Mini concert, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, and Pep Rallies. Members may also be asked to perform at various locations in the city to promote public awareness for various causes, businesses for local economic growth, and fund raisers. Rehearsals are from August to early November on Thursdays from 3:15 to 5:00. Members must attend Band Camp during the last 2 weeks of July. Since this group only meets one day per week for rehearsals, attendance is mandatory. Unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the program.
BlueSound is our highly competitive and artistic Marching Band. Membership may be attained by audition and needs of the group. BlueSound members must be part of the JCMHS War Eagle Marching Band. Performances include football games, 4 marching band competitions, and all functions of the War Eagle Marching Band. Rehearsals are August to early November DAILY from 3:15 to 5:00. 3 or 4 Saturday rehearsals will also be held between August and November. Rehearsals are mandatory. This group is only for those who wish to become the best at the craft of sound-in-motion and agree to put forth effort well beyond their comfort zones. Jobs and other activities, school or non-school related, will not be considered excuses for missed rehearsals or performances. Anyone can become part of this tight nit group by passing a special audition.
The Cover Band plays popular music (rock, pop, R&B, country, etc.) and consists of the traditional instrumentation of a regular rock band to include: electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, keys, drum set, and singers. The Jazz band consists of the: electric guitar, bass guitar, keys, drums, vibes, auxiliary, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and singers. The formation of the Cover Band or Jazz Band depends on the instrumentation and personnel of the group at the beginning of 2nd Semester. Performances are determined by venue availability and style of music requested.
