April 29-30 Spring Performance Trip to Carowinds!
Dear Parents,
Apologies for the late notice on the $80 needed to go to Carowinds this Saturday and Sunday, April 29 and 30. I'm working on having the hotel to be paid for which would lower the cost of the trip to $50 instead of $80. I must ask for $80 just in case we do not get the hotel paid for. The $80 is due Tuesday but I can wait until Thursday. If the hotel gets paid for, even up to the point of paying for it, the $30 of hotel cost will go back to you or to band dues for next school season which will be $60.00. This pays for competitions, technical help for flags or drums, competition food, sticks, repairs, and a host of other things. If you allow the money to go to 2023-2024 band dues, you will only owe $30 for band at the beginning of next school season. That will be your choice. Details of the trip this Saturday are below. This and permission slips will go out tomorrow, Tuesday.

This is OLD INFORMATION from years past from latest to earliest.
Recent Past Event Details:
November 2019 we took a trip to Atlanta to see Cirque de Soliel's "VOLTA". It was incredible!! The kids were enthralled every second of the show! We got to see acrobatics and art at their best and discussed how we could work toward that kind of performance.
Christmas Concert 20
2018-2019 schedules were lost.
Main events from 2018-2019:
Competition Show "The Greatest Show" rocked the house at the Effingham competition but we lost power at the Statesboro competition and scored our lowest score ever. We picked up the pieces for the half-time show at Calvary Day for long standing ovation, especially from the student section. That made the whole marching season worth while.
All other regularly scheduled events were a go.
Football Games
Home Coming Parade
Fair On The Square Parade and Performance
Pep Rallies
Veterans' Day Celebration
Christmas Concert
MLK Parade
GMEA LGPE scoreing "Excellent" Ratings on prepared pieces and in sight reading
Record number went to Solo & Ensemble for many excellent and superior ratings
1st annual Talent Show put on by the choir
I'll think of the rest later.

March 10, 2017
Wow. What wonderful journey to excellence. This year, the Jenkins County Band went to LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) for the first time in it's known history. (If that is incorrect information, please let me know.) I could not be more proud of this band that picked itself up from failure after failure and doggedly pushed forward to a goal. What makes it even more special for me is that you pushed forward to a goal that you knew nothing about except for what I told you. What a huge honor to be the band director of such an incredible group of students. Let's hold the torch high and keep moving forward! Many great things to come!!!
March 8, 2017
Congratulations to the Jenkins County 6th and 7th Grade Band for scoring Straight EXCELLENT ratings in stage performance and SUPERIOR rating in Sight Reading!!!! The future of this band is bright!
February 23, 2017
Awesome Job to the High School/8th Grade Band and High School Choir! You brought much excitement and dignity to this years "Black History Month" program! We'll continue to fine-tune our roll in this honorable event.
February 22, 2017
Today was a landmark day with the JCHS High School/8th Grade Band. We did our first pre-large group performance evaluation clinic at Georgia Southern University. Our behavior and attention were perfect as the clinician conducted the band toward great improvements. I'm anxious to complete our first official LGPE in Savannah, GA on March 10 for the high school/8th grade band and March 8 for the 6th/7th Grade Band!
February 9, 2017
6th/7th Grade Band did an outstanding job playing at the Pruitt-Bethany home! I am very impressed with their performance of around ten songs. They only expected to play their three LGPE tunes but didn't disappoint when the crowd asked for more. They played six more tunes that brought smiles to the entire room. Expect to play there again for this very deserving and appreciative crowd.

This is most definitely one of the best Christmas Concerts I'v had the pleasure of working. The community loved it, as you could tell from their applause and reaction to every number during and after the concert. You people are simply amazing. I'm so glad to be working with you!

Great job for the first game! I'm very proud of this band!!!!
More Work + Less Talk = More Music and less repetition of instructions!!!!
COMPETITION SHOW 2016
LATIN GROOVES
Our competition production for the 2016 marching season is a Latin themed show consisting of "Aztec Fire" by Jay Bocook, "The Rhythm Is Gonna' Get You" by Gloria Estefan & Garcia / arr. Crockarell & Dawson, and closing with "Latin Closer" which begins with "La Virgen De La macarena" by Bernardino Monterde and ends with a faster recapitulation of "Aztec Fire".
We've added several drill sets to the originally 16 set show. We will probably march around 30 sets.
Look for some flashy trumpet solos, awesome bass guitar riffs, blinding drum hands, the tightest Flag line in the region, and a closer that will turn your skin into chill bump city.
