Canoeing

Jake has wanted a canoe for over a year now, so he finally got a canoe. My family decided to buy and share two canoes and now he is so excited. So the last few weeks he has been finding out as much information as he can about canoeing in Utah. So on Saturday we set out to go canoeing. We live close the the Jordan river, so what better place to start then close to home. We dropped one car off and headed up the river to put the canoe in. We found a place to put the canoe in, not the greatest and we will do it differently next time, but it worked. We had to canoe through the reeds and marsh, but it was all good. The river is slow going, so we enjoyed a nice afternoon in the sun. We were on the river for an hour and went 3 1/2 miles. The boys got board, but it's good for them to sit and enjoy nature. We thought we were the only ones out, but were wrong when a speed boat passed us a few times. Never knew speed boats went on the river, but some one was having fun water skiing. The boys would get scared that we were going to tip, but no one got wet and it added a little excitement to the afternoon. Next time we will probably go on a longer run, and next summer we will plan a trip or two with the canoe.
