In order for each rehearsal to take place as smoothly as possible, the following general procedures should be followed.
BE A GOOD PERSON!
Treat everyone with respect. This includes your fellow musicians, band parents, director, and guests. Remember the old saying, “Treat others as you would want to be treated.”
Come to rehearsal with a GOOD ATTITUDE.
Be in the band room prior to the tardy bell. All students are given three minutes after the tardy bell rings to gather all necessary equipment and music and be in his/her assigned seat. Students not in their seat or not ready to begin rehearsal on time will be marked tardy.
Participate in class regardless of instrument. If a student does not have his/her instrument, there is an alternative participation assignment found in the front of the room.
When the director, staff member, or a student leader steps on the podium, all talking should stop.
All students should have necessary materials at the start of rehearsal. This includes: pencils, mutes, reeds, sticks, mallets, instruments, drill, music, etc.
Students will only make good characteristic sounds on their instrument.
Make a conscious effort to improve on a daily basis and establish a good practice routine.
Please whisper during rehearsal. It is rude and disrespectful to disturb others while they are working. Section leaders are expected to enforce this.
Use the restroom and get water BEFORE you come to class. Students should not ask to use the restroom during class unless it is a dire emergency.
During rehearsal, no one is allowed in the side rooms unless specifically instructed by Mr. Evans. During SWAG or after rehearsal, side rooms may be used as needed with permission.
Students are only allowed to play the instrument assigned to him/her. Do not touch the percussion equipment.
Rehearsal is not over until the director dismisses you. Do not get up and leave or begin packing up your instrument unless the director has given permission. Important announcements are given at the end of class and need to be heard by all.
At the end of rehearsal, put all materials in their proper place.
The band room is to be kept neat and tidy at all times. If there is trash on the ground, throw it away. On Fridays where there is not a competition the next day, stands and chairs need to be put away and all percussion equipment needs to be stored/boxed up.
Do not leave money or other valuables unattended in the band room or storage areas.
Maintain a strong academic standing in all course work.
Become responsible for and assume responsibility for your own actions. Admit when you are wrong.
Have a proper respect for yourself and those in authority.
We follow all school policies regarding Co-Curricular activities and the legal system.
