The Symphonic Band at West is made up of all band students in grades 9-12. We give at least 2 concerts per semester. The Winter concert is programed with holiday music. In the Spring Semester, we perform for the annual state sponsored Music Performance Adjudication. We also will give a Spring concert in May. This group also performs at the Graduation Ceremony at the end of the school year.
In March of 2019, the Symphonic Band performed for the Carowinds Festival of Music and earned a rating of SUPERIOR! This is the first concert festival performance in recent history where the band has received STRAIGHT ONES from all three judges. The program included: The Expert (March) by H.A. VanderCook, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing by Randall Standridge, and Moscow, 1941 by Brian Balmages.
We are extremely proud of our Symphonic Band for earning a rating of SUPERIOR at the 2017 Music Performance Adjudication on March 15 in Lenoir, NC. This is the first MPA superior in concert band since 2011.
