Appropriate Clothing and Footware:
All students have been reminded that they must wear tennis shoes and socks during their Physical Education class. This rule is for his/her own safety as well as the safety of the other students. No high heels (including wedges), clogs, boots, or sandals will be permitted and the student will be asked to sit out for that day. Tennis shoes must fit well and stay on the student during the activity. Students should avoid wearing dresses on their scheduled PE day.
Excused Absences from Class:
All students will participate in the activities scheduled unless a written excuse is given. If an illness or injury persists, please have a doctor’s note explaining the restrictions your child has.
Grading:
All Elementary PE students receive five separate grades and are graded twice during a school year at the end of Quarter 2 (Semester 1) and Quarter 4 (Semester 2). Students are graded based on their knowledge, skills, sportsmanship, effort, and attitude in accordance with the PE state standards:
3 - Meets Grade Level Standard
2 - Partially Meets Grade Level Standard
1 - Not at Grade Level Standard-See Progress Comments
* - Not Graded
M - Modifed Grade
Behavior Protocols:
The following is a list of steps used for any student(s):
1. Student will be given a "break" to correct the behavior and come back when they are ready
2. If the student's behavior does not improve, they will be asked to take another "break" and Mr. Hoeg will tell them when to come back and participate.
3. If the student's behavior does not improve a second time, they will be asked to take another "break" along with returning a note from Mr. Hoeg with a parent/guardian signature before the student may participate in Physical Education.
Please note, if a specific behavior such as bullying, inappropriate language, or endangering themselves or another person, "breaks" may or may not be given, the student will sit out immediately and/or be sent to the office.
