In our school...
We have friends from all over the world!
We have friends of many heritages!
We have friends who speak many languages!
We celebrate diversity!
This school year, I will work with students whose families are from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Thailand, Ghana, Mexico, the Marshall Islands, Jamaica, Ecuador, Japan, and the Philippines. Our ENL students speak Spanish, French, Akon, Ashanti, Twi, Tagalog, Marshallese, Jamaican Patois, Japanese, and Thai.
The Indian River Central School District prides itself in its diversity. We work to honor and celebrate everyone's cultures and languages. Part of my job is to advocate for students from diverse backgrounds. Any students who want to discuss such issues are welcomed to talk to me! My classroom is a safe space.
I love to learn about the world and where my family came from! My ancestors were from Ireland, England, France, Germany, Scotland, and Norway. I have studied French and try to speak it when I can. I am also trying to learn more Spanish and even a little Irish!
The ENL department in the Indian River Central School district has hosted various events in the past to celebrate our diversity such as Family Nights and a district Multicultural Fair. Check back for updates on these events for the 2021-2022 school year.
