On Saturday, April 29, 2017, ‘Iolani School in partnership with the Kōkua Hawai‘i Foundation, and support of the Hawaii Farm to School and School Garden Hui, hosted the second annual We Grow Hawai‘i Youth Garden Conference. Close to twenty students from five schools on Oahu, and including the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii Windward, presented to other students, teachers, parents, community members, and garden educators about their school garden experiences through individual and group presentations and displays.
New this year, at the start of the conference the Kōkua Hawai‘i Foundation's ‘ĀINA In Schools Program had all students participate in a cooking activity. The final dishes were used to supplement lunch, and also incorporated some shared school garden produce, and microgreens generously donated by Mahina Pua Farm (courtesy of Ms. Jansen from Honolulu Waldorf School). For recipes or interest in having AIS in your school, please visit their website, or contact us for assistance.
Available below are some materials from the conference that either presenters, or organizers wanted to make available to the public. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us HERE.
Thank you for your support of school gardens!
