ABOUT We Grow Hawaiʻi
Started in 2016, the We Grow Hawaiʻi Youth Garden Conference is a student-led conference, where students sign up to share about their school garden experiences through individual or group project presentations, displays, and hands-on activities. While there are already annual school garden conferences held in Hawaiʻi, this is the first conference that gives students a voice.
In 2016, thirty students from nine schools on Oahu participated in person. Short video presentations from students on the outer Hawaiian Islands as well as the Marshall Islands were also featured, and school garden tours were offered earlier in the day through the Kōkua Hawai‘i Foundation's ‘ĀINA In Schools Program.
