Kindergarteners may check out 1 book.
1st Graders
1st semester-1 book
2nd semester-2 books
2nd Graders may check out 2 books
Students may have books checked out for a 6-day cycle.
Overdue policy
Kindergarteners may not check out a new book until their previous book has been returned.
1st Graders
1st semester-may not check out a new book until the previous book has been returned.
2nd semester-may check out an additional book if they have one overdue book.
2nd Graders may check out an additional book if they have one overdue book.
These policies may vary both at the beginning and end of the school year.
Renewals
Students must bring in the book to be renewed.
Any book may be renewed at least one time.
If no one else is in need of the book, students may continue to renew the book as many times as needed.
Holds
Students may ask to have a book held for them upon its return.
Students will be notified when the held book is available.
Lost items
A book is considered lost if it has been checked for 8 weeks from its due date without renewal.
When a book is lost, parents are notified by mail. Parents are responsible for paying for lost books.
A student with a lost book fine will be unable to check out additional books.
Arrangements for repayment can be made with the district teacher librarian.
If the book is found, a full refund will be made.
Damaged items
Some wear and tear on library books is expected.
If unrepairable damage occurs to a book while it is checked out, it is the parents' responsibility to pay the replacement cost of the book.
A student with a damaged book fine will be unable to check out books.
Replacement cost of a book can be obtained from a library staff member.
Carryover of Fines
Fines for damaged or lost books may be carried over from one district building to another.
