ARCONAUTICS ORCHESTRA
An orchestra for Middle School Students who have played their stringed instrument for at least 1 year; the music selections in this class range from late beginning to intermediate levels. The student will develop skills necessary to play the instrument of choice with facility and skill. These skills will include, but are not limited to, technical facility, scale development, artistic expression, and performance.
STRINGS OF STEEL ORCHESTRA
Students must audition for this class. Students grades 7 - 9 have played their instrument for at least one year. The music selections in this class range from intermediate to late intermediate levels. The student will develop skills necessary to play the instrument of choice with facility and skill. These skills will include, but are not limited to, technical facility, scale development, artistic expression and performance.
PHOENIX STRINGS ORCHESTRA
An audition only orchestra for students grades 9 – 12. The music selections in this class range from late intermediate to advanced levels. The student will develop skills necessary to play the instrument of choice with facility and skill. These skills will include, but are not limited to, technical facility, scale development, artistic expression and performance.
ELECTRIC ROCK ORCHESTRA (ELRO)
A limited size class for which students grades 9 – 12 may audition. Students in this class must have attained a high level of skill on their acoustic instrument and will learn to play a 5 string electric instrument. The music selections in this class are modern, mostly rock music with a variety of skill levels from intermediate to very advanced. All participants also prepare solo work, and do multiple formal performances, recitals and community performances. We also focus in this class on composition, arranging, improvisation and modern music including jazz and rock.
STRINGS ON WINGS ORCHESTRA
This is the beginning orchestra class at IACS. Students may choose between playing violin, viola, cello or bass. They will learn the basics of playing a stringed instrument. Required books are "Sound Innovations Book 1", and "All For Strings Theory/Workbook 1" for their respective instruments. These can be purchased at local music stores or online.
