IACS ELECTRIC ROCK ORCHESTRA INFORMATION (High School 10th - 12th graders)
Students must audition for this class. Students enrolled must play a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or string bass). The music selections in this class are varied and required advanced musical knowledge, skill, innovation and motivation. This is a performance based class and class members must have a flexible enough schedule to play at evening event performances around the Treasure Valley. The students will develop skills necessary to play the instrument of choice with facility and skill. These skills will include, but are not limited to, technical facility, scale development, artistic expression, and instrumental care. This will be accomplished through in-class practice and ensemble playing. All participants will also prepare solo work, and will be expected to perform in a recital/concert setting. We will also focus in this class on composition, arranging, improvisation and modern music including jazz and rock. Students will be graded on participation, homework and personal improvement. String students in this class will be loaned a high quality, 5 string electric instrument for which they take full responsibility. String students enrolled in Electric Rock Orchestra must ALSO be enrolled in Phoenix Strings. This is a performance group and a flexible evening and weekend schedule is very important so we can do community performances.
Class fee: $150 per year
