Greetings from Room 129 ... :)
Well another year has started, and hopefully you have already heard about some of the fun and exciting topics we will be studying over the coming months. Grades 6, 7 and 8 can be incredibly memorable and formative years for students, and I am going to do my best to make this year one filed with learning, laughter, and success for every one of my students ... :)
Let me start off by introducing myself. For those of you who do not already know me, my name is Rob Stringer, and this is my twenty-sixth year with the Board, and eighteenth year at Queensdale. In 1996 I was the recipient of a national teaching award — The Prime Minister’s Award of Teaching Excellence, and spent the five years prior to coming to Queensdale as an Information Technology (IT) Consultant for the Board. I also have specialist qualifications in Phys. Ed. and Special Education. Outside of school, in addition to being a Dad of two myself, I am a Certified Professional Youth Coach (visit www.YouthCoachGlobal.com for details), avid reader, dog owner, and love to travel and cook.
I am very excited to be teaching another year here at Queensdale, and look forward to meeting you at the "Meet The Teacher BBQ", if not before.
I believe in good communication with parents, and to that end, I will be sending out daily texts/updates (e.g. homework, important info), as well as sending out a weekly newsletter—summarizing class activities, and upcoming events and projects. Signing up to receive these updates also allows you to text me back (privately).
Should you ever wish to contact me, please feel free to text, send in notes, drop by the room, call the school (905-387-5744), or email me: rstringe@hwdsb.on.ca. (Please note that phone calls often can't be returned until the end of the day.)
As always, if you have any questions about your child’s progress, class activities, or if you have any information that you feel might be important to know about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Here's to making this school year your son/daughter's best one yet!
Yours in support & success,
"Mr. S"
