Error "The 'targetFramework' attribute in the..." after HRPro Upgrade

Error

After upgrading HRPro, you may encounter the error message: "The 'targetFramework' attribute in the <compilation> element of the Web.config file is used only to target version 4.0 and later of the .NET Framework" when attempting to access the Employee Portal or Web Client.

Solution

For optimal performance, enhanced security, and improved compatibility, Web Client 22.09 and Employee Portal version 22.09 or later require .NET Framework 4.8 or higher. Please download and install the .NET Framework 4.8.1 Runtime from the following location:
