Sixth grade science parents,
Can you believe November is here already? Wow!
We have just started our water unit! We get to dive into the complicated, yet amazing system of water here on Earth. Up until now, we have been laying the foundation for science with metric units, measurement, modeling, and Latin. These are all skills that students will need that we will consistently revisit for the remainder of the year. With the new start of the second marking period, all of the following reset:
academic and life skill grades
bathroom passes
tardy slips
A fresh start for your student to make quarter two a success!
Encourage and help your student come to class ready! As students arrive to class, some are having difficulty with the following basic skills:
an organized way of putting papers away (and getting them back out)
bringing a pencil (and a backup or two)
a fully charged computer
an optimistic mindset for the class and the work to be done
Quarter two is a natural time to check in with your child and see how things are going in these specific areas. When students don't come prepared, it can create more stress and anxiety for them. Having everything they need for my class can amplify their work, rather than hinder their performance based on their lack of preparedness for class.
Recently Mr. Crete communicated that poppers and tech decks would be better left at home and not in class. Please encourage your student to follow this request as it will help us keep our learning environment focused and "distracting noise-free".
If you need anything from me, I am an email away. If you contact me, you can expect that I will get back to you within 24 hours. I prefer talking on the phone or video chatting if that is available. I would love to talk with you about your student and how we can work together to help them be the best 6th grade version of themselves they can be.

The start of the school year is fast approaching! Thanks for visiting my site. Excited to get the year started. There is information on both 6th grade science and Discovery Science here. On Aug. 17th at 6:30pm, Baldwin Street Middle School will be having their open house, opening all the classrooms and hallways for you to find your way around. I will be there as well as all your other teachers too. Hope to see you there!

We made it through the winter! With the nicer weather approaching and hopefully the end of the COVID pandemic soon, we are quickly approaching our final marking period. Let me know if you need anything as we ended marking period three and start the new!

Let's get back to it! We will begin in person learning again on Dec. 9th. Until then please be sure to check out our classroom's page in Google Classroom. You all have been great at completing assigned tasks. Keep it up!
If you ever feel like you are getting behind, reach out to me via my office hours or an email. I'm glad to help! And let's be honest... I have nothing else to do. haha
Take care!

Students!
So glad to be back with you this year. I know it looks different, but you all are awesome, so that means things will be OK!
We will be doing work in Google Classroom this year and this website will be a resource for you as well. Feel free to look around on some of the pages to the left and don't hesitate to email me if you still have questions.
