A Typical Day in Wellness

Our Definition Of Wellness

RAMS Wellness is a planned program of instruction and activity for all students throughout the entire year that develops skills and attitudes towards a healthy active lifestyle.

Outlook on Wellness

In a cooperative and supportive environment, my students will acquire skills and concepts pertaining to the Massachusetts State Framework for Physical Education as well as the Massachusetts Standards for Health. Our program here at RAMS will focus on physical activity, physical fitness, wellness, movement skills, knowledge, social development, interaction, self-image, self-realization, and individual excellence. Our program will also include the context of a comprehensive health curriculum, which is in alliance with district and state outcomes and expectancies.

Typical Day in PE Class(Gymnasium)

1) Entry Activity: Having something active to do upon entry into the gym/field or other area encourages the students to participate. This can include a previously learned activity, a warm-up, a review of the previous class, a Static and Dynamic Stretching, or the Workout of the day(WOD)

2) Skill Development and Practice: This would be the core part of each lesson. Learning and practice of newly acquired knowledge and skills take place. Cues and Strategies are given for successful completion of Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor skills. (Teach proper mechanics of an overhand throw utilizing a softball)

3) Culminating Activity and Assessment: This could be a game, a dance, or demonstration of acquired skills that have been development from part 2 in class. Teacher will observe students development and make adjustments if necessary. (Students play modified games of softball while teacher checks for understanding through verbal, visual, and written assessment.)

4) Closure: Cooling down, stretching, discussion of current and previous days lessons. (Debrief)

My goals apply to all students of all abilities at all levels.
